Big-5 Game Lodges

The Sabi Sand (56,000 ha), the MalaMala (13,300 ha), and the Manyeleti (23,000 ha) Private Game Reserves are known for having the best available Big-5 game spotting in South Africa. Located on the south-western border of the Kruger National Park (KNP), there are no restricting fences separating these two reserves and the KNP, thus allowing animals to roam freely.

Tariffs at most Lodges include all meals, some drinks, as well as Games Drives and/or Game Walks. Some lodges also provide private butlers, chefs, game rangers and game viewing vehicles. Younger children are usually not permitted on game drives and walks.

Hazyview is the springboard to many luxury, exclusive Lodges on these prestigious Private Game Reserves, as well as to some private Game Lodges located within the KNP.

Jock Safari Lodge (KNP)
Main Lodge with 12 individual thatched suites, each with viewing deck, plunge pool, Victorian ball and claw bath, his and her vanities and outdoor shower. Fully equipped with 5-star amenities such as air-conditioning, fans, tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar and safe.

Lukimbi Safari Lodge (KNP)
Open wooden decks meanders along the banks of the Lwakahle river. 16 Spacious suites combine luxury and modern African decor with private decks and river views.

All suites are air-conditioned, have fans, safes, mini bars, tea and coffee facilities, as well as private decks leading out towards the river. Children of all ages welcome.

The Premier "Giant Eagle Owl" and "King Cheetah" suites each include a private pool and two bathrooms.

Nkambeni Safari Camp (KNP)
A large 3-star graded Safari Camp inside the Kruger National Park boundaries offering affordable rates on accommodation, meals and activities. All 146 units are permanent safari style tents and the camp layout offer views on the surrounding Kruger National Park. A range of meal options are offered in the restaurant, Danger Ranger Bush Pub and the Boma. Morning and afternoon open vehicle safaris, bushwalks and bush braais - all inside the Kruger National Park on an 11,000 hectare traversing area.

Rhino Post Safari Lodge (KNP)
Set on the banks of the Mutlumuvi riverbed, the Lodge is built of natural stone, thatch, & canvas. Enviro- friendly with battery power for lights and indigenous reed bed to process bathroom waste. Plains Camp (KNP)
Situated in the heart of a wilderness area and built in authentic pioneer tradition. Nestled in an acacia knob thorn thicket it overlooks the Timbitene plain and waterhole. Four comfortable furnished tents, fully serviced with en-suite facilities with hot running water. A generator and a back-up battery system power overhead fans and 24 hour lighting.

Shishangeni Private Lodge (KNP)
Situated on 15,000 hectare private concession in the southern KNP, and having the deserved reputation for showcasing some of the finest game-viewing on the continent. Shishangeni consists of three lodges: Shishangeni Main Camp, Shishangeni Camp Shonga and Shishangeni Camp Shawu.

Twenty-two individual chalets accommodating 44 guests. Each chalet is luxuriously appointed with a private game-viewing deck as well as mini bar, fireplace, outdoor shower and sitting area. The Camp can accommodate 10 guests in five very large rooms overlooking the Mpanamana dam. Singita (KNP)
Singita (‘place of miracles‘) is world-renowned for providing the best safari experience in Africa. Manyeleti Game Reserve Lodges

Manyeleti means "Place of the Stars" in the local language. This 23,000 hectate private game reserve borders directly on the vast Kruger National Park in the north-east, the famous Sabi Sands Game Reserve in the south, and the Timbavati Game Reserve in the north-west.

You can be certain not to encounter big tour groups travelling around in busses, but rather expect a pristine bush experience in one of the world's most beautiful places.

Honeyguide Tented Safari Camps (Manyeleti)
Authentic Bush Camp experience. Camps offers a unique blend between a classic stay in safari tents and the best of contemporary design.

It consists of two camps, Khoka Moya and Mantobeni, each with twelve large tents. The tents are reminiscent of the Hemingway-style safari. There's a very comfy kingsize bed, huge couch to relax on, and a perfect bathroom. Children under 12 years not allowed at Mantobeni camp.

MalaMala Game Reserve Lodges

The MalaMala Game Reserve is one of the largest private Big Five game reserve in South Africa. Comprising 13,300 ha, MalaMala shares a 19km unfenced border with the KNP and lies sandwiched between the KNP in the east and the Sabi Sand Reserve in the west. MalaMala was awarded "South Africa's Leading Safari Lodge - 2011" by World Travel Awards.

Pathways wind their way along the perimeter of the unfenced camp - an oasis in the midst of the bushveld. Nowhere in South Africa will one find a wildlife experience quite like the one experienced within the Sabi Sand Reserve. Sharing a 50km (31.25 miles) unfenced border with the Kruger National Park, this immense 65,000 hectare (153,000 acre) diverse tract of land is home to The Big Five and much, much more. The Sabi Sand Reserve is an association of freehold landowners, many of whom manage commercially active safari operations. Sharing a common environmental management program, this association is administered by a warden reporting to an elected executive committee.

The Sabi Sand Reserve is not open to the general public. Staying in one of the 34 lodges means you are sharing this pristine wilderness with only a few other guests, since each private reserve has exclusive traversing rights over a certain area for the guests at their lodges.

Djuma Private Game Reserve (Sabi Sand)

The reserve is named from the Shangaan word meaning "roar of the lion". Djuma Private Game Reserve is 7,000 ha in extent and is part of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, bordering the Kruger National Park.

Visitors to Djuma are treated to some of the best game-viewing opportunities Africa has to offer. Accommodation is in two luxury safari lodges: the unique Vuyatela Lodge and the private, self-catering Galago Camp.

Notten's Bush Camp (Sabi Sand)
Seven suites with open plan bedroom and en-suite bathroom. All suites have both indoor and outdoor shower facilities and ceiling fans. All windows and sliding doors are fitted with screens. Each suite leads onto a private game viewing deck.

No electric lighting; the ambient candlelight and lanterns captures an enchanting spirit of romance. Children over 6 years welcome. Children under 6 years only if camp is booked exclusively.

Nine Suites, seven of which have tented roofs and draped inner ceilings. Three Executive suites, each with a private plunge pool, covered patio, wooden deck and en-suite bathroom with double vanity, shower & bath, toilet and outside shower. A family owned lodge with 9 Safari Chalets set in indigenous gardens. A suspension bridge from the dining deck leads to a sunken hide overlooking Shadulu dam.

Flying to Ulusaba
Ulusaba is approximately 80 minutes flight from OR Tambo (Johannesburg) International Airport (JNB), or 30 minutes from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA). Ulusaba has its own private airstrip and there are daily scheduled and charter flights available.
